Sudi Narayanan (Sw. Anand Teertha) was born in Kerala, India, a region known for its rich cultural heritage and various art forms, including murals found on walls of old temples that often depict great epics of India.

Sudi has been drawing since childhood and has won numerous state and national recognitions and awards. After moving to the United States in mid-90’s, his interest and passion for art continued to grow, and he has been continuously creating artworks ever since.

In addition to his creative pursuits, Sudi is a Technology Executive by profession. He lives with his wife, Nimmi, and daughter, Maya, along with two lovely dogs in Alpharetta, a northern Atlanta suburb.

FROM ARTIST’s STATEMENT

As unique as everyone else, I discovered my creative instincts at a young age. Fascinated by the spiritual wisdom of the ancient east and inspired by my beloved master OSHO, my creativity took some interesting turns and resulted in what later became Meditation arts and Spiritoons (Spiritual cartoons).

In this mystical existence, there is tremendous beauty, consciousness, joy, and celebration 24 hours a day. The mind often comes in between and doesn’t allow us to see reality as-is. Interestingly, except for humans, the whole existence is in continuous bliss!

Overwhelming beauty, mystifying experiences, and heartfelt jokes are the central themes of my meditation art and spiritoons. They seem to me to be the greatest bridges to reality as they help one forget the ‘world’ and step outside of their complex mind to see things as they are.

Spiritoons are much more than mere humor and sarcasm. They aim to transform viewers spiritually in a non-serious way.

If spiritoons can move viewers a bit closer to their inner selves in a crowded world busy with ideologies and pseudo-mechanical lifestyles, my effort as an artist/cartoonist has been fulfilled.
